Rihanna Loud Album Review

Loud is the fifth album released by Rihanna in November 2010. Produced by Def Jam Recordings, the recording took place between February and August 2010. This album was co-produced by Rihanna and other record producers such as Alex da Kid, Tricky Stewart, The Runners and Star Gate.

List of Tracks

The album consists of 11 songs and features several guest vocalists such as Eminem, Drake and Nicki Minaj. The first song is titled S&M where the lyrics are brazenly sexual and quite unlike the earthly sensuality which is Rihanna’s signature style. The second track is What’s My Name? featuring Drake. The song has a Caribbean beat which resonates in the other tracks of the album such as Man Down.

Some of the other songs in the album are Cheers, Raining Men, Only Girl, Fading, California King Bed, Complicated and Skin. The final song on the album is Love the Way You Lie Part II which features rapper Eminem. The first part of the song was among the tracks in the seventh album of Eminem. This is one of the best songs on the album as it is the ideal blend of the menacing voice of Eminem and the angelic crooning voice of Rihanna.

General Review and Rating

Loud received positive reviews from music critics all over the world. The pop singer was lauded for her vocals and style which made the album effortless. However, some of the songs such as S&M were panned for its blatant sexuality. Earlier, Rihanna had come under criticism as she used to conform to her boundaries.

But, with this album, the pop singer has scaled new heights and proved that her singing abilities are far from limited. The last song, Love The Way You Lie Part II, is the one song that elevates this album from being simply passable to unusually arresting.

The album has been rated 4 stars out of five.
