Who should play Batman next?

Guy Pearce (‘Memento’, ‘Prometheus’) was in contention when Nolan was rebooting the series thanks to his ties with the director, but he never got the job. As an actor he may be past the point of his career at which he may take such a role but nothing is certain. He does lack the big starring role that his career deserves however, and no ‘Prometheus’ hardly counts.

Armie Hammer (‘The Social Network’) is a name being thrown around a lot and I could definitely see him getting the part, especially as part of an ensemble Justice League film if that happens. He’s got the look and showed a lot of the necessary charisma in ‘Social Network’ but may be too young. Next year’s ‘The Lone Ranger’ will be the test as to whether he can play a hero however. If he can then things are looking good.

For my three other picks I’ve looked to the smaller screen. Joe Manganiello of ‘True Blood’ fame has the look and is about the right age for an older caped crusader but doesn’t have a lot of a experience in major films and may not be up to a scratch. Throw an audition his way though at least.

Jim Caviezel is best known for title role in Mel Gibson’s world-baiting biblical shit-storm ‘The Passion of the Christ’ but is currently star of ‘Person of Interest’, one of the biggest new shows to hit the US last season. He’s heading towards 44 but looks younger and I could definitely see him in the cape and cowl.

Which brings us to my top pick…
