GolfPunk is back.

Playing golf can be a popular hobby but reading the mags is not always top of the list. The was the driving force behind GolfPunk, a magazine launched in 2003 by Tim Southwell and John Dean with the motto ‘The Mag For The Rest Of Us’. It was greeted with a huge reception and quickly established itself as the alternative voice of golf.

GolfPunk demonstrated a huge love of the game with an ‘honesty-first’ approach. The popularity of the magazine was evident after the awards it was given; unique commendation from the British Society of Magazine Editors for launch of the year in 2004, IPA and BSME Editors of the Year in 2005.The magazine unfortunately ceased publication in 2009 when it’s then owners stopped supporting the title.

The magazine however, was re-launched on Friday, as a digital magazine on a brand new platform by the design and development team Craft. It can be viewed free through your browser and tablet and Smartphone apps will follow for future editions. After it’s successful launch party at The Open 2012 in Lytham St Annes, many were made aware of the relaunch and were keen to read the first issue as a digital magazine.

Editor Tim Southwell commented: “I created the GolfPunk brand back in 2003, and launched the magazine in 2004. The magazine got a tremendous reception and we won a truck load of prizes, and more importantly a legion of loyal readers, who we are confident will want to see GolfPunk restored to its former glory, but now in state-of-the-art digital formats.”
