What will you be wearing in Spring 2013?

Move over peplums, purple and pleated skirts; that’s so 2012! The wait is finally over. The low-down on the exciting new styles hitting our shelves in the coming year have finally surfaced.

Mellow-Yellow is its name and hard to wear is looking to be its game. Although the British summer looks oh so far away, this burst of sunshine is likely to bring a glimmer of hope to those tanned brunettes who will look great in it. Blondes however may not be as welcoming, as a clash of hair and outfit is never great.

This bright and bold hue is one we will all have to get used to. It’s thanks to Marc Jacobs who went crazy sunshine, in his latest collection for Louis Vuitton and others too such as Dior, taking a splash of colour all over the Spring catwalks, that it has become a definite colour palette for 2013.

So, expect every high-street this spring to be heaving with oh so yellow garments and you are sure to see a selection of the good and the really bad. For the minority that can pull this off (a constant tanned, tall, super hot, Hollywood model) team the not so mellow yellow with something navy to attempt to neutralise this look… slightly.

As for the shoe scene you can expect to see Phoebe Philo’s fur-lined sandals. Yes, that is right FUR LINED SANDALS. Designed by new mum of three; Philo’s sandals will be sure to create comfort. (take note Kate Middleton!) Although it can’t be confirmed you’ll be the hottest momma in these!

It’s a marmite relationship. Love these controversial sandals or hate them, you will see them everywhere. With strong predictions supporting they will be popular, grit your teeth and bear it. Think of them as a pair of slippers which are socially acceptable to wear outdoors.

Everybody with even a slight interest in fashion knows the influence of Prada. So when they say jump we say;

‘how high?… and with what handbag?’

So, prepare yourself to get those crazy hair extensions from the 80s back out and that trowel to apply your makeup as the next big craze, neither denied nor confirmed by Prada, is with the Harajuku girls.

As if dressing like a colourful Mickey Mouse wasn’t suffocating enough, try to swallow the idea that Prada is setting the trend for mini thick kilts, thick framed glasses and possibly even leather ankle socks. OMG. Maybe the latter won’t catch on (fingers crossed!)

Boobs are back in! This is great news for you Katie Price wannabes, and also those who like to eat. Gone out of the window are the ‘eat nothing’ diets. Let yourself go (a little bit) and put back all the lumps and bumps in all the right places.

Gone is the Chanel inspired boy figure obsession. British Vogue have led the way for this new silhouette. It is almost certainly going to take the British fashion industry by storm. Using the curvaceous Kate Upton as the cover girl of the January 2013 edition it’s leading the way for real women.

However, let’s not go all out on the boobage. Still keep some class and instead take the message from Vogue as a dress to cater for your curves and emphasise that beautiful female form!
