The Advantages of a Rented Wedding Dress

Wedding dresses can be a problem. You must go through the fitting for the bridal gown, as well as having all of your bridesmaids fitted for their dresses. This can take up a lot of time, and can become quite expensive. Renting a wedding dress has a few advantages that some brides may not consider because of taboos on luck and longevity of the marriage. However, a rented wedding dress can function just as well as one you bought, and may free up some time, money and mental health for an anxious bride.

The average American bride spends $1,121 on a wedding dress and also has between four and five bridesmaids, according to various surveys. Each of the bridesmaid’s dresses costs, on average, around $800. These dresses can be acquired for a fraction of this cost if the bride elects to rent them. The three main advantages to renting your wedding dress are the reduced cost, the investment you didn’t make in an expensive dress and the fact that a rented dress is always in style.

Save thousands of dollars

If you decide to rent designer dresses for your wedding instead of buying them, then you can save thousands of dollars. This money can be used for your honeymoon or for catering at the wedding. Additionally, the peace of mind that comes with knowing your after wedding festivities are taken care of is priceless.

Appreciates in value

The investment that many brides make in their wedding dress is also somewhat misplaced. So many brides buy their wedding dress to wear once (hopefully) and then put it away in a closet, never to be seen again. In days past, mothers would hand down their dress to their daughters, who would pass it on to theirs and so forth. However, these days the price of designer wedding dresses is very high and the material does not last as long as it once did. If you decide to rent designer dresses instead of buying them, you will be declining to make a poor investment that will deprecate in value over time. Once the wedding is over, simply return the dresses to the store where you got them.

One reason that a dress depreciates in value after it has been worn is because the style of the dress becomes more outdated. Also, the fabrics used in today’s high fashion world are not the sturdiest of materials and will wear and tear quicker than you may like. As the style and quality of your wedding dress begins to diminish, you may find yourself wishing you had chosen to rent designer dresses for your wedding.

Owning a wedding dress is important to some people, as the physical object of the dress can serve as a reminder of your wedding day for years to come. Many people, however, would rather see that money spent on building memories of an exciting and exotic honeymoon. Designer dresses can often be the most expensive part of a wedding. If money is looking like it could get a little tight, you may want to consider renting your dress.
