Carl Froch v Mikel Kessler Preview: Round Two

25th May, 2013 will see a sold out 02 Arena in London play host to one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of British boxing in recent history as Carl Froch prepares to take on Mikkel Kessler for the super-middleweight unification.

Current IBF champion, Froch and WBC titleholder, Kessler, hold each other in high regard outside of the ring. This is down to their brutal battle three years ago in Kessler’s back yard of Denmark, which saw the Dane eventually win on a unanimous points decision after twelve rounds of enthralling boxing.

It was Froch’s first defeat as a professional boxer and the Nottingham born warrior has been on a revenge mission ever since. The contest caused so much excitement that Kessler promised Froch a rematch immediately after their last encounter.

We will be presented with another boxing master class. The contrast in styles of each fighter make for a perfect match up, which has the potential to be explosive from start to finish.

Both men have only suffered two defeats in their career and will be looking to avoid a third come Saturday night. The two super middleweights weighed in under the 12 stone limit with Froch surprisingly more than a pound heavier at 11st 13lb 9oz compared to Kessler’s 11st 12lb 7oz at Fridays weigh in.

Both are primed and ready to go for one of the biggest fights of their career. If their first fight is anything to go by then we are in for another treat.
