Wayne Rooney and his future

All seems not so brilliant for striker Wayne Rooney and his idea of leaving Manchester United. After United rejected a second offer from Chelsea, it seems Rooney has decided to submit an official transfer request to the club, hoping to force through a move to Chelsea.

Rooney has been increasingly expressing his feelings about wanting to leave the club because of a lack of games played since Robin Van Persie arrived.

Jose Mourinho spoke to the media not long after his arrival to Chelsea, and expressed his desire to lure Wayne Rooney to his team, stating that he considers Rooney as a wonderful player, smart, in the best moments of his career and that he matches the profile that Chelsea is looking for.

Rooney didn’t join the rest of the United team for a friendly in Sweden, due to an injury on his shoulder.

In my personal view, Rooney is not essential as a player at Manchester United as he once was,  there are a lot of players with the same characteristics as Wayne Rooney and arguably better than him, that can take his place.

At Manchester United he had the support of his team mates, directors, and their fans, which is important. Wayne Rooney is a figure in Manchester, if Rooney decides to stay, he could arguably become a legend at Old Trafford, joining the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Sir Alex Ferguson among other greats at the club.

It seems that Rooney has a lot of thinking to do, could we see another situation like a couple years ago when he submitted a transfer request only to withdraw it later and sign a new contract? Only time will tell.
