LOONY BELFAST COUNCILLOR IN SECTARIAN ROW AND APOLOGY!

On Thursday, the people of  Belfast elected their first TUV Councillor to the City Council. Cllr Jolene Bunting (21), makes claims to: “work hard” for her electorate and be: “a thorn in the flesh of Sinn Fein and the DUP” when interviewed by BBC’s Gareth Gordon. Cllr Bunting woke to a thorn of her own, having had previously made sectarian comments of hers exposed by students on social media.  Ms Bunting made comments such as: “I’m so sick of the poor Catholic bastards, they make me sick” and similar rants about the local supermarket selling St Patricks’ Day cards with a: “big fucking tricolour on them”

The storm emerged when students last night, posted screenshots of the newly elected councillor’s comments onto Facebook. It didn’t take long until Belfast Telegraph got hold of events and this fresh controversy took the day’s headline. We can all rest assured that Ms Bunting gave students her piece of mind too as well as the Catholics with: “I know that there is a largely student element to those working for LAD [Loyalists Against Democracy] and I would think that Queen’s University would be keeping their students a bit busier than trawling through Facebook to dig up dirt and slander people.” In an even bigger twist the unsettled Belfast councillor doesn’t apologise for her comments, instead apologising: “for the innocent people in the Court ward who I offended with by using the word Catholic when I meant republicans.”
