Can England actually win the World Cup?

It’s that time of the year again and the question on everyone’s lips is how well can England do this year? We have a lot of talent in our side, with some exciting youth from the likes of Raheem Sterling, Ross Barkley and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being matched by experienced players such as Gerard and Rooney. With a tough group stage, it will without a doubt be a tense summer for England fans, with England branded stress balls (find here) expected to be squeezed throughout the country as nails are bitten and tension rises, let’s just hope it doesn’t come down to a penalty shoot-out!

Realistically, not many people are expected to win though and pundits are looking at Argentina and Brazil as the main competitors. What if the World Cup was a popularity contest however? Stay Sourced decided to look at who would win the World Cup if followers from the official twitter accounts of each team’s starting XI amounted to goals scored. The result was their creation of the Social World Cup infographic. Are England’s chances any better on Twitter? Unfortunately not, while being predicted to make it to the Quarter Finals, England then lose to Spain who go on to win the tournament.
