It might be a weird thing to accept, but scents and smells have a huge impact on our moods. The sense of smell can be seen as the strongest of the senses and it has an influence on brain activity. Different smells can thus help you set different moods and it is an easy way to manipulate your world.

Different smells can help improve your productivity of almost anything you can think of doing. Here are a few examples:

If you need to study but you are feeling run down: use lemon scents. The smell of lemon promotes concentration and has a clarifying effect on the mind. Lemon also has antibacterial properties and can help with minor illnesses by boosting the immune system and improving circulation.

When you need to brainstorm: Peppermint! It stimulates clear thinking, improves your concentration and revitalises the mind. It is sure to help you come up with great ideas.

In studies it has been found that men are especially attracted to the smell of cinnamon as it reminds them of food and baked goods. Vanilla is the top selling scent when it comes to bath products or home fragrances. Men and women are attracted to vanilla’s sweet and soothing smell. The scent of oranges has even been used in Egyptian times as an arousing and uplifting scent for both sexes. Jasmine and lavender also set calming and romantic tones.
