Munich is a German city and the capital of Bavaria. With a population exceeding 1.2 million, Munich is among the top three popular cities in Germany. The city offers visitors a plethora of sights and sounds. Munich is home to some of the most well-known architectural marvels in the world. One of the most awaited events in the city is the annual celebration of beer called the Oktoberfest.

The ideal time to visit the city of Munich is from May till September which is the summer season. The weather will be pleasant and warm with an average temperature of 23°C. The month of October is also a good time to explore the city as the popular Oktoberfest will be held during the entire month. Due to the city’s proximity to the Alps, Munich has a continental climate. Tourists can expect violent rainstorms. The winter season in Munich is from December to March.

Located in Haidhausen, the Deutsches Museum is well-known for its incomparable exhibits of construction, engineering, aerospace vehicles and natural science. The museum is so large that it occupies an entire island. Visitors are treated to models of salt and coal mines and other interactive displays such as paper-making and glass-blowing.

Tourists keen on museums of cultural history should not miss the National Bavarian Museum. With a varied collection of antiques and artefacts from around Europe, the museum showcases several nativity scene sets that are the largest in the world. Tourists can also view porcelain, pottery, furniture and medieval armour.

The official currency in Munich is the euro. Visitors are offered efficient and cheap means of public transport such as the railways. Cars can also be hired or rented from the airport. Affordable and hygienic eateries are found at almost every corner in the city. Some of the restaurants offer a buffet for around 10 Euros. Tourists can avail cost-effective lodging at the hotels found near railway stations or bed and breakfast inns.
