Fake London 2012 branded condoms seized in Soho raid

Thousands of unauthorised London 2012 branded condoms have been seized in Soho by Westminster City Council Trading Standards in raids that have been fighting in the influx of fake goods since the start of the Games.

In a BBC survey 80% of people gave the design the lowest rating possible.

London 2012’s branding police have been making headlines since the official logo, designed by brand consultancy, Wolff Olins was announced in 2007. The logos received huge criticism initially with jokes a-plenty being made about the London 2012 looking like Lisa Simpson giving a blow job. Maybe that’s what inspired these Soho scammers to add condoms to their range of phoney merchandise?

The fake branded condoms were seized along with other items worth up to £10,000 in a program of raids since the beginning of the Games.

Sue Jones, Head of Westminster Trading Standards said:

“Buying bogus Olympic goods is a false economy – they don’t look right, they break easily and tourists will go away from London with a poor experience of the Games.”
