Trends we shouldn’t like, but do..

Today it’s all about trends, and by trends, the ones I’ll be talking about are featured on the worst-dressed list as much (or even more) than they are on best-dressed. These are the things that can either be done so right or so wrong– there’s a very fine line. However, this doesn’t stop us from loving/hating/wearing them.

Here is my short list:

Animal Print

animal print clothes

One of the main offenders. whether it be leopard, zebra or snake the animal print is anywhere and everywhere. Worn moderately this can look good, every piece worn at once can make you look like you were locked in the zoo at night and lived to tell the tale.

Fake Fur

Ah, a repeat performer throughout the decades. The domination of fake fur comes in a majority of forms. Although it may be warm and cosy, perhaps even considered chic by the fashion hierarchies, there is a great risk people may confuse you with a giant teddy bear or even Cruella Devil.

Glitter

Yes, I mean the sparkly stuff associated with Barbie and 80’s cheesiness at its best. Over the years it’s made its way into clothes, shoes, cosmetics- it’s easy to get a hold of. But whether you think it’s tacky or not, you still find yourself staring at it.

Patterned Trousers

So good, but so bad. The statement trouser has well and truly made its mark in fashion. The bad? The choice of print on the trouser. Be careful what you choose. And make sure they fit.

Leather

Double-leather is as much of a sin as double-denim. Don’t do it. Ever. If you do, you’re very brave, and obviously a bad listener. Even one leather piece on its own can be a risk- wear it well or you might look like ‘one of the band’. By that I mean like a member of Kiss.

Galaxy Leggings

These are starting to get out a lot nowadays. They’re the leggings smothered in galactic print- from afar they look a bit like a tie-dye error. Very cool but very odd at the same time. Again, wear in moderation/ in a decent print or not at all.

Mega- Platform Heels

Frequently dubbed ‘stripper shoes’ but still favoured by girls around the world, even me. Ignore the negative elements like tackiness, impracticality, strange appearance. Even ignore the good elements like increased height, massive variety, finishes off ‘the look’. Instead, just ensure that you can walk/ run from the wolf-whistling weirdos out at night.
