4 New(ish) Bands for 2013

3. Natives: Formerly Not Advised; Natives have been reincarnated into King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut playing pop-rock demi-gods who just did a headline tour for a fiver a ticket. Someone needs to teach the band supply and demand. My mates went to Cardiff to see them and rubbed shoulders with the likes of Kids In Glass Houses in the crowd. Follow suit and wait on tenterhooks like the rest of us for their first release later this year.

4. Elissa Franceschi: Is there such a thing as credible pop? Elissa Franceschi seems to have managed it. The incredible vocal talent has been touring the UK with her seven-piece band; performing off the back of her third album, Into The Light. Her entirely independent effort has had to fight with the 9-5 work that gets in her way; as she is determined to make it with or without a label. Having already lent her powerful vocals to Always Attract for her brother’s band You Me At Six, Elissa has proven she can take to the stage with the best of them. As a solo artist, One Republic’s Ryan Tedder is already a fan; why not agree with him?
