We Will Rock You nominated for Olivier Award

You have all heard of We Will Rock You, possibly, most of you would have seen the show live – one of the most successful and long running musicals in London; a must see for theatre fans.

After celebrating its 10th anniversary last year at the Dominion Theatre in Tottenham Court Road, the show has been nominated for the 2013 Olivier Award in the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award – an award voted on by the public alone and is one of the front-runners to secure the prestigious title.

Known widely as the Theatre version of the Oscars, the Olivier Awards are the highest honour for any theatre show.

We Will Rock You sees the songs of rock legends Queen bought to the big stage of theatre, featuring classics such as Bohemian Rhapsody to It’s a Kinda Magic, to of course, the title song. The musical tells the story of a futuristic world where youngsters are enslaved by globalisation – dressing the same, thinking the same, even watching the same movies; a scary thought.

The musical debuted to a round of positive reviews and critical acclaim, and 10 years later is still going as strong as ever, could the musical be celebrating a 20 year milestone of success in the future? We don’t doubt it.

Will WWRY walk away with the prestigious award at the Olivier Awards? It is down to the audience and public to decide.
