Students and stress

The ‘S’ word everyone fears. Stress.

Everybody deals with stress, especially students when it comes to exam time or deadline day. Whether you’re about to go into your first GCSE’s or whether you’re dealing with a degree and dissertations at university, stress will most likely be sneaking up on you.

Everybody deals with stress in a different way. Some people just want to relax, chill out and take things easy whereas others may see this as a waste of time. Some people thrive on stress and it helps to push them forwards.

Nobody likes dealing with stress, so here are my top tips of how to cope with the busy times in your life.

Early nights.

Being well rested is probably one of the most obvious ones. There’s no point in trying to revise if you’re too tired, nothing will go in. So the best thing to do it make sure you get yourself an early night before doing your work.

Take breaks.

Instead of working solidly for three hours, split that time up. It’s better if you come back to a piece of work so give yourself a break, even if it’s just for 15 minutes. Then start again.

Eat and refresh yourself.

Make sure you’re refreshed, don’t work on an empty stomach because instead of thinking about the work, you’ll end up thinking about what you can have dinner.

Take time to relax.

Don’t work too late, make sure you have enough time left at the end of the day to just chill out. Work in a comfortable environment too. If you’re relaxed, you’re more likely to focus on what needs to be done.

Have something to look forward to when all your work is done.

Everyone deserves some fun time, so when all your work is done why not let your hair down for a while. Give yourself something to look forward to at the end of everything. Be it a shopping trip, a night out with your friends or a little holiday.
