Cars for your special day

Planning a wedding is one of the most complicated things that you will ever do, even if you are a rocket scientist. There are so many things to sort out, things that you would never have thought of until you have to start putting together your big day. Before you worry about the dress, the cake, and where to seat Auntie Mabel so that she can’t offend anyone, you need to work out how you’re going to get there.

Unless you’re happy to drive off into wedded bliss in the family car, or rich enough to own a vintage Bentley, then renting a vehicle for your wedding is probably the best solution. Here’s a selection of some of the most luxurious, funky or unusual modes of transport for your big day:

Swap wheels for hooves

Arriving in a beautiful carriage pulled by a stunning horse (or horses) is a stylish and memorable way to go about getting to and from your wedding. There are lots of companies who provide this service – a good place to start looking is Horse Drawn Occasions.

Hippy chic

Hiring a campervan for your big day is an increasingly popular option for those wanting to arrive in a more unique fashion. Buying a camper comes with a hefty price tag (if you want one that starts), but luckily hire is very reasonable (as far as weddings are concerned). Pear Tree Weddings have some beautiful vehicles, in which you can travel in serious luxury.

Just married, Bond-style

Yes, there is a specialist company which rents out gorgeous, top of the range Aston Martins to couples getting married. Cars on the list include the Vanquish, the V12 Vantage and the Rapide, and no, it’s not cheap. When hiring a luxury car, you may have to put down a large security bond, and chauffeur driven services will cost even more. But, if you’ve got the money, why not – check out Aston Hire for more information.  Alternatively, if you are on a budget you can check out  used Vauxhall Cars where you will find a range of cars that look similar to many Bond-style cars.  The positive aspect of going this route is you get to keep the car at the end of your wedding!

Rock’n’Rolls Royce

A Rolls Royce is, arguably, the luxury car. These cars also make for wonderful wedding photos, and seeing as you’re unlikely to ever sit in one again, hiring one for your wedding marks the occasion very nicely. Kudos Cars cover most of the UK, and supple chauffeurs.

Limousine

If you want to get the bride and bridesmaids or the groom and groomsmen there in one go, which is great fun, or just want to enjoy the experience of travelling in a limousine, a limo is a really fun way to get to and from your wedding. Remember that if you pile everyone in on the way there, you will need to make sure that they have a way of getting home. Wedding Car Hire have a huge range of vehicles, including a stretch-Mini!

Why have four wheels when you can have two?

If you really trust your partner, and don’t have far to go, how do you like the idea of driving away from your wedding in a sidecar, which your new spouse on a motorbike? It’s not for everyone, but it is a very individual touch, and you’ll have the coolest pictures ever. Classic Bike Hire have a vintage Panther with sidecar that’s just the business.

The best of luck in finding the right transport for your wedding – and remember, no matter what you choose, it’ll still be the best day of your life.
