Drake – Take Care Album Review

Drake, a Canadian recording artist, released his second album titled Take Care in November 2011. This is a continuation to the artist’s debut album titled Thank Me Later which was released in 2010. The album was released by Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment.

List of Tracks

The album offers 19 tracks of which a few also features the vocals of acclaimed singers such as Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. The first track is titled Over My Dead Body with lyrics that embody the journey that the artist has gone through in the past year. The second track is Shot For Me and showcases the smugness of a man who takes pleasure in the unhappiness and anger of a former girlfriend with her new lover.

Headlines, Crew Love, Marvin’s Room and Buried Alive are some of the other tracks featured in the album. The title track Take Care has been sung with the collaboration of top pop singer Rihanna. The lyrics are exceptional and speak of the anguish of being hurt in love and the fear of trusting again. The subdued and yet strong vocals of Rihanna add a special magic to the song. This is arguably the best song on the album. The other tracks of the album include We’ll Be Fine, Lord Knows, Make Me Proud, Underground Kings, Cameras/Good Ones Go and HYFR.

General Review and Rating

Drake has always been known as a sensitive artist and this album is a testament to it. The lyrics are poignant and the music is haunting. The Canadian singer has roped in several singers to add an extra touch to most of the songs in the album. Unlike regular hip hop artists, Drake is softer in his approach and sensibility in Take Care.

The album has been rated 4 out of 5 for its awesome penmanship and vocals.
