H&M can definitely be considered as one of fashion’s greatest high street stores. It’s ethical and budget-friendly approach easily blows it’s competitors out of the water, but it’s collaboration with world-famous designers gives it that extra level above others like Topshop and River Island.
In the past, H&M has had collaborations with Karl Lagerfeld, Maison Martin Margiela, Jimmy Choo and so many more that it’s hard to list. But the newest addition to that spectacular repertoire is famous Parisian designer Isabel Marant.
News broke of the collaboration yesterday and fashionistas all over the globe are going crazy. New York fashion blogger and author Man Repeller a.k.a Leandra Medine tweeted simple: “Isabel Marant pour H&M?!?!” as well as magazine giants ELLE, Company and Vogue spreading the word over social media about the new collaboration.
Isabel Marant said that its an honour for her to have the opportunity to work alongside and innovative company like H&M. She said “I aim to create something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy.”
Margareta van den Bosch, the creative advisor for H&M said that Isabel Marant has a “fantastic eye for ethnic detail and the rare ability to create something that people really want to wear.” She also expressed that regular H&M customers would be enthusiastic about this collaboration, much similar to that of the other collaborations in the past.
What do you think? Will Isabel Marant’s collection fly off the shelves in the same fashion as the Versace for H&M collection? Or will it be understated? Marant has a perfect reputation in the fashion world which derived from her ability to mix urban-meets laid-back cool with a touch of rock and roll, which is very much in H&M’s nature.
The collaboration, which will also include menswear, will be in stores from the 14th of November, and if it’s anything like the previous collaborations in the past, it will only be featured in the top stores in the UK. This will include perhaps Birmingam Bull Ring, various stores around London and perhaps Manchester too. However, like all of the previous ones, it will also be available online if your local store doesn’t stock the collaboration!
