Student Make-up Essentials

Student life can really start to take it’s toll, especially when it comes to the dreaded make-up bag restock that leaves all our bank accounts looking a tad  worse for wear. However I have cherry picked a few key essentials that should be a staple in every students make-up collection that can be repurchased again and again without breaking the bank, that really do offer a lot of bang for their buck.

1. Rimmel ‘Stay Matte’ Powder

This particular product is a classic make-up staple. Every girl needs a powder that will keep their make-up in place all day and that will also combat grease throughout the day. This powder is stocked in bargain stores such as ‘Bodycare’ for £2.99 which is an unbeatable price for a product that should be used daily and that lasts up to 3 months. I would recommend purchasing the shade ‘translucent’ as it works for every skin tone, therefore you are not applying more coverage that could make your base look cakey – instead, you are simply holding your make up in place whilst creating a flawless matte finish.

Most girls would say that mascara would be their desert island product, it opens the eyes and makes the whole face look brighter. This particular mascara has been a new discovery for me, but nonetheless a great one. Retailing at £3, it really is a students best friend. It comes from a fairly unknown brand named ‘2true’ who is exclusive to ‘Superdrug’ and matches the quality of any high-end mascara. It lengthens, volumises and seperates – pretty much everything that you want a mascara to do.

It also comes in a waterproof formula that works tremendously. However, it is a pain to remove, therefore you should use an oil based eye-make up remover (L’Oreal do a great one)!

Overall this product has been the best bargain beauty find for me in 2015 so far. So, if you’re a student and fed up of forking out £20+ for a high end mascara, there is honestly no need to – pop into your local Superdrug and try out something that is cheap as chips but works wonders.

3.  Collection ‘Lasting Perfection Concealer’

This concealer has been a beauty blogger favourite for the past few years, and rightly so. It comes in a handy stick form with a doe foot applicator, great for on the go as well as throwing it in your handbag. But why is this concealer so ground breaking you ask? Because it offers the coverage and quality of a high end concealer such as the Nars creamy concealer’ but at a margin of the price. At just over £4, this gem really is a student’s dream – and what better to make you look awake in lectures when really all you want to do is sleep off the dreaded hangover.

Another fabulous thing about this product is that in comes in a ‘fair’ shade. Therefore for all you pale girls out there that find it impossible to hunt down a light enough concealer on the high street – this is your new saving grace.

So, if you’re a student finding yourself struggling to fill your make-up bag with products that really do the job. Above are three make-up essentials that you can not only rely on but come at a minor price tag that will have your bank thanking you later.

Top Tips for Bargain Make-up Hunting:

1. Deviate from Boots and Superdrug – check out local drugstores

2. Read reviews online beforehand – safety in numbers!
