How to find the right bikini to suit your shape

The long awaited summer season is finally upon us which calls for only one thing. That’s right – holidays, holidays and more holidays! If you’re going to be jetting to a hot and exotic location this summer then listen up because this is the essential guide to your wardrobe of swimsuits.

There’s no doubt that the beaches will be dotted with an array of bikinis in all different shapes and styles. But which one is right for you? Shopping for the perfect bikini set to suit your shape can be a rather daunting experience. You might think that the easiest and safest option would be to hide yourself in a kaftan, but this won’t help to accentuate your figure nor catch that sunkissed glow. So never fear and hide no more, because we all come in different shapes and sizes. Whether you’re an hourglass or a pear, there’s a bikini for you. So embrace your shape, flaunt that figure and work it whilst you’re out on the waves. You’re bound to make everybody green with bikini-envy.

Boyish or Athletic shapes – Bikinis with frills or bows can add subtle curves to your figure. Patterns such as stripes or floral designs will give the illusion of a slightly fuller shape. Padded bikini tops also enhance the bust area and bikini bottoms in the style of shorts will draw attention to your hips, making them look shapely and flattering.

Hourglass shapes – Halter neck bikini tops will provide the best form of support for those with a bigger bust. Tie side bikini bottoms or traditional cut bottoms are great for emphasising your defined waist. Bold, block colours on top and bottom will compliment your equally proportioned chest and hips.

Pear shapes – Bandeau style bikini tops will suit your smaller top half, whilst tasselled or short style bottoms will look gorgeous on wider hips. A patterned print on top and an all in one colour on bottom is ideal for pear shapes. The mismatching of designs will give the illusion of a well proportioned figure. The patterned top will flatter your chest, making your bust appear slightly fuller. And your hips will look beautifully slim in dark colour bottoms such as black or navy.

Apple shapes – Tankini tops are perfect for apple shape figures as they cover most of your stomach area, only revealing a slight bit of flesh above your bikini bottoms. This will provide a slimming effect. And if you’re worried about not catching a tan, then simply roll up your tankini whilst you sunbathe! If you don’t want to reveal any tummy flesh then a swimsuit is a better choice. These can be bought in a variety of colours and focus the attention on the bust and legs. Great!
