Miami – The Magic City

Located along the Atlantic coast of Florida, Miami is the eighth most populated city of the United States. The city is known for its beaches and joie de vivre. Miami has been named as one of the cleanest cities of theUS for its hygienic drinking water, vast green spaces and clean streets.


When to Go

The best time to visit Miami is from December to May when the weather is pleasant and rainfall is scant. The city enjoys a tropical monsoon climate and the summers in the city are extremely humid and hot. The city is also prone to hurricanes with frequent thunderstorms. The month of August can be the hottest and the rainiest in the year.

Miami is a hub of several performing arts centres, theatres, parks and museums. The city is home to the second largest performing arts centre in the United States known as Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. A number of concerts, ballets and operas can be enjoyed at the centre. Some of the other renowned arts centres include Coconut Grove Playhouse, Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and Jackie Gleason Theatre.

Tourists can also visit numerous museums in the city such as the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, Coral Gables Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art. One of the largest art exhibitions is held at the Art Basel Miami and is called Olympics of Art. Held in December, the event draws art enthusiasts from across the world.


Money and Costs

Tourism is one of the major factors which contribute to the economy of Miami. Tourists can expect a visit to Miami to be a pricey one. Based on the time of year, a hotel room in a decent establishment could cost more than $100. The popular hotels will offer rooms from more than $200 to $1000 for a single day’s stay.

A well-connected network of public transportation facilities offers cheap and effective services. As the city is influenced by several cultures, tourists can enjoy various cuisines at cost-effective prices at every corner of the city. Although museums charge a nominal entry fee, on some days there is no visitor’s charge.
