Fight the frizz!

I have very thick, naturally curly hair that is prone to being dry and frizzy. Using the right products makes a massive difference and ensures my hair always stays frizz-free, however I style it. In this article, I’m going to share some of the best products on the high street that will help you fight the frizz!

First step: choose the right shampoo and conditioner.

Charles Worthington Frizz Free Shampoo and Conditioner (RRP: £5.19) rehydrates hair, giving improved control and style. This range also has the bonus of an added humidity resistant agent so your hair stays frizz free, whatever the weather.

TRESemme Vitamin H & Almond No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner (RRP: 3.59) replenishes moisture and protects against split ends, leaving frizz prone hair silky soft and full of health.

If your hair is particularly dry and coarse, you may want to try a leave in conditioner. A lack of moisture in the hair is what causes frizz so it is important to keep your hair hydrated.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Daily Miracle Treatment (RRP: £5.89) is my hair saviour! It’s vitamin infused to lock in moisture and detangles even the knottiest of ends with ease. It also contains heat protection so you can use all your favourite electrical products without damaging your hair.

Charles Worthington Hair Healer (RRP: £5.69) banishes frizz and revives tired dull hair, leaving it unbelievably soft and shiny. Your hair will never have felt so silky! The intense nourishing formula also protects against heat damage.

Now it’s time to decide on your style: curly or straight?

Here are some of the best products for curly styles:

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Controller Firm Hold Gel (RRP: £5.29) controls even the most hard to manage curls! It prevents the hair from expanding so curls retain their bounce and spiral shape. Use this product sparingly at first; if you use too much, it can make your hair look crispy.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Corrective Styling Mousse (RRP: £5.29) transforms wilted waves into bouncy, soft curls by taming frizz and restoring elasticity. Curls have renewed energy and shine however, as with the Firm Hold Gel, the trick is to not use too much product.

Umberto Giannini Shapely Curl Friends Mousse (RRP: £4.89) gives a light, flexible hold, ensuring that curls are not weighed down or crunchy and dry. The result is curls and ringlets that are extra defined.

And for those that can’t put down their straighteners:

Lee Stafford Poker Straight Treatment (RRP: £7.39) is designed to fight the damaging effects of straightening irons by rebuilding the hair shaft and replenishing essential moisture. Hair is restored to full health and frizz is a thing of the past.

Lee Stafford Poker Straight Shine Serum (RRP: £7.39) smoothes frizz and eliminates fly-aways so hair looks amazingly sleek. This light, non-greasy serum also contains conditioning properties to treat split ends and nourish the scalp.
